Berkeley Castle Wedding Photographer - Jo and James

The first wedding I’m blogging this year and it’s a corker! The stunning and lovely Jo and James got married recently at St Mary’s Church in Berkeley and held their reception at Berkeley Castle in a windy but sun filled day.

I started my day with Jo and her girls in a little B&B in Wotton-Under-Edge getting ready with the help of the lovely Jessica Mills and Sheena. I was joined by the videographer Ben from The Wedding Cut who was an absolute pleasure to work alongside all day. We then went straight to the deceptively large Church in Berkeley which is literally next door to the Castle. The spacious interior and fairly laid back vicar made for photos I really love during the service. After getting a confetti beating by all their guests, everyone made their way across for drinks outside the Castle and then inside to hear the music of The Jigalots, who were the perfect entertainment for such a location.

Jo, James and I then had a quiet 10 minutes in the grounds of the Castle before they went into the Great Hall for their wedding breakfast, although we sneaked off during the meal for a few more photo in the Castle’s amazing drawing rooms. A spectacular setting for the speeches and afterwards many people took the opportunity to go for a guided tour of the Castle. The evening sun was lovely and Ben decided to take Jo and James off for a little filming and I tagged along to capture a few more shots of them in the gorgeous light. Before long though it was time to get back into the Great Hall for the cutting of the cheese cake and then a cellidh. The Jigalots were back to provide the music for this with the help of Stephen Rowley to do the calling. This was a great start to the evening as it got everyone lively and in the mood for a party so when the first dance arrived everyone was up for a great night as you’ll see :) Big thanks to Pippa and her team for making us all very welcome.
