Cardiff Bay Wedding Photographs – Michelle and Alex – St. David’s Hotel, Cardiff Bay.

I’ve known Michelle (Chelle) for about 14 or so years now. We met when we were both Saturday checkout girls at Waitrose in Cirencester, she was always on till 11 and I was on 12 and for our Cirencester College years we spent a lot of time together. Chelle went to Cardiff uni (where I enjoyed visiting her and going to an awesome dingy rock club called Metros) and she then stayed on there after. When I first met Alex I was pretty sure he was the one for her (I’m not sure if I told her that at the time). From doing this job I think I now have a pretty good feeling for who and who isn’t right for each other, when I meet a couple that are right I can just sort of tell that it’s right.

In this post you will meet their beautiful daughter Willow. Before this I had only seen Willow once, and it was when she was just a few days old and I went over to meet her and photograph her :) I’m pretty lucky really as I’ve photographed 2 weddings, 1 family shoot and 4 baby shoots for this family now :)

So I started my day at St. David’s Hotel in Cardiff Bay with Chelle, her bridesmaids and family getting ready and nipped between them and Alex getting ready with his brother and Chelle’s brother. The latter considerably calmer than the former :) The whole day took place at St. David’s Hotel, it was a such a sunny day, but it was not warm as it was soooo windy!!! Chelle was quite concerned before the day that we wouldn’t have anywhere to take the couple portraits as the hotel itself is right on the water with just a carpark next to it so we did a recce before the day which is always worthwhile as then I knew exactly where to go for the shots I wanted on the day.

Photographing a friends wedding is always slightly scarier than photographing anyone else’s wedding. I don’t tend to get that nervous about photographing weddings anymore, this is my 7th summer of weddings afterall. But when an old friend chooses you to be their wedding photographer it really means something and so there feels like there’s a bit more pressure :) Hopefully they’ll still be pleased they chose me :D Here they are:

Spot the mistake :)
