It was pretty much the perfect day for Jo and Paul’s wedding last month at Winkworth Farm, Gloucestershire. I was so looking forward to seeing them, partly because during their engagement shoot I think I pretty much giggled through the entire thing and partly because Jo was very heavily pregnant then and due just 3 weeks before the wedding, not that you’d know this from how she looked on their wedding day! I started my day with Paul and the boys at the pub in Lea, near Malmesbury, I then made my way down the road to Winkworth Farm which is where we stayed for the rest of the day. The sun shone for pretty much the entire day which meant that they could have their ceremony in the walled garden of the farm where the guests sat or stood and watched. What was particularly nice about this is the readings came from people in the crowd and Paul and Jo got to look out to everyone while they listened, especially touching was the poem read by their friend ‘written by’ Jasper, their new son :)
Immediately after the ceremony we walked around the walled garden and out to find, to Jo’s surprise, a donkey! Jo had apparently always wanted a donkey so was over the moon to see him :) Drinks while listening to lovely gentle live music in the gardens followed while a guy drew caricatures of the guests. I whisked them off with Jo’s Dad in one of his old vintage cars to grab a few photos. The speeches that followed the meal were absolutely hilarious as you can see, then one of my favourite parts followed this when Paul was asked to get up and perform a song with the aid of his harmonica, something he wasn’t expecting. I had heard him play harmonica once before when he was best man for Rob and Caroline who I photographed back in 2009 and thought it was cool then! Meanwhile outside the sun was setting beautifully so I whipped them straight out to get a few more photos before the sun set and they started their evening party. Here are some of my highlights:
